We suggest that the RTD server runs on a cabinet system, as these cases provide the necessary scalability in terms of extension slots and main memory. The requirements for a server connecting to a single exchange are given below. If additional exchanges are connected, the requirements for main memory/hard disk space will increase.
Basic Requirements
Free hard disk memory 10 GB (1 GB programs, 7 GB Data, 2 GB Log Files)
Main Memory 4 GB
Network 100/1000 Mbit
| Operating system | Core Speed CPU [MHz] | Server example |
| Solaris | From 1.3 GHz upwards | SUN Fire V215, Sun Enterprise M3000 |
| Solaris on Intel | 2.8 GHz upwards (multi-core) | SUN Fire X4150 |
| Windows XP | 2.8 GHz upwards (multi-core) | SUN Fire X4150 |
| Linux | 2.8 GHZ upwards (multi-core) | SUN Fire X4150 |
Remarks:
The RTD Architecture takes full advantage of multiprocessor systems. The processing load is distributed over several processes. In multiprocessor environments the operating system ensures that the processes are being executed on all available CPUs.
Sizing of clients in general is much more complicated. Different users have different requirements. We have taken these different requirements into account by using the user profiles described before. High CPU performance is required by the RTD client.
Multiprocessor Systems
Due to the internal structure of the RTD system which spreads different functionalities over several processes, the client benefits from multiprocessor platforms. In this respect it is a multi-threaded application but each thread runs within a separate process. In this way the operating system is able to distribute the load among several processors.
Basic Requirements

RAM min. 2 GB
Graphics Adapter Latest generation graphics adapter
